Broken ankle and tornado warnings!

Some of you may have heard that Leslie broke her ankle her second week in Peoria. She was singing in the choir and made a bad step down and broke it. Her mission President's wife called to tell me she had been to the doctor and had a boot put on it, but, this letter tells a bit more of the trials she has had. It is a good thing we have prayer and the Lord looking after her!-Nancy

Hello! I'm glad to hear that you had such a nice weekend! It sounds like it was great! How long was Melissa and the kids there for? I'm sure you enjoyed having them there. Did Asher talk your ear off? How were things with Melissa? That's fun that Justin was able to spend yesterday watching conference with you. I was wondering where he would watch it. He didn't email this week so that was kind of a bummer. Oh well. The talks were all amazing! I learned so much as well! I very much enjoyed all of conference. It was fabulous. I thought of you and dad a lot during it. All the talks on parenting. I am so grateful and lucky to have the parents I do! For how you both have raised me in the Gospel and did all the things all the apostles adviced to do. I kept thinking..."yup they did that...and that...and that.." see you guys are great! It was amazing how the whole thing was on families. Definitely tells you what is wrong in the world today! THank you so much for the Easter package! It was fun to get. My companions were surprised you sent some for them as well, they are thankful! And the andie candy cookies! I was SO excited for! My ankle is feeling a little bit better, not a ton. I have to wear the boot for about a month. It still is pretty painful. Ha ha Sister Erickson is so funny! Yes she let me borrow a couple pair of her shoes to wear for a while that are actually flat. She taught me how to reuse crutches and has been coaching me. Her and President Erickson have been talking very good care of me. Tell Tracy and Allyn hi as well. How are they doing? How is Allyn liking his new job? I ended up being sick yesterday and then we had a tornato warning! So we spent all night in our hallway and then by the time it was time for bed we were able to go back in to our room to sleep! It's been a crazy week! I was given Tylonal 3 for the pain by my foot doctor, and I ended up being allergic to it. Right as Zone Conference was ending (Wednesday), I started to lose color in my face so President handed me a bottle of water. That didn't help, my heart was pounding and my chest was closing off. We said the closing prayer and everone went out back in to the sacrament room and I went to the mothers lounge, shaking, still not being able to breathe, President gave me a blessing, carried me to the Andra's (a senior couple here, works in the office) car, and they took me to the hospital. I got put on a heart monitor, they gave me some more medicine and I calmed down and was able to breathe again. It wasn't as bad as it sounds, but it was definitely scarry. We don't know if the medicine was to strong for me or if I have a codeine intollerance. So the hospital perscribed me with a different perscription for pain meds for my ankle, but President said it's still pretty strong and still has codeine in it so he would advice not to fill it. So now I just get to suck it up and deal with the pain! So I haven't been able to go out much this week. President has me sitting in his office, studying and taking naps during the day. Then in the evening when we have appts Sister Wright and Sister Baker pick me up and I go out with them. Exciting week huh! It's been crazy! Zone conference was amazing though, I learned a lot from it and it really helped me out. I was kind of having a hard time at the beginning of this week and zone conference really picked me up to help me keep going. The spirit was very strong there and it was very encouraging. It was fun to meet other people in our zone. Our district isn't so friendly so as we have district meeting and lunch weekly it's always a bit awkward. Kind of clicky and they have their inside jokes and stories and know each other. I tried to talk to a few of them and it's always the look like who is this girl, where did she come from and why is she tryign to talk to us look. But zone conference people actually were friendly and it was fun to get to know more people there. Put faces with names that I have been hearing about. But that's about all for this week. I hope your next week continues to go well! Don't worry today is sunny and no sight of rain so hopefully no tornados..oh yeah, there wasn't one yesterday, it was just a warning apparently. The sirens never went off. I was freaked out though. But all is well! I love you both and hope you have a great week. Love, Leslie
